How are the temporary tattoos applied?
First, remove the clear, protective top sheet. Place the tattoo in the desired area, with the image side facing your skin. Press a wet towel, paper towel, or sponge to the back side of the tattoo for 30-60 seconds. Slowly remove paper backing from skin. Allow the tattoo to dry before touching or covering it with clothing.
How are the temporary tattoos removed?
Remove tattoos with rubbing alcohol, baby oil, or transparent household tape. The tattoos are resistant to water and most soap.
How long do the tattoos last on skin?
California Tattoos temporary tattoos typically last at least 3-5 days. The length of time may vary, depending on how and where it is applied. To make the most out of your tattoo, be sure to apply it to clean, dry skin that is free of oil, lotion or make-up. Try to choose a smooth, hair-free area of skin that doesn’t crease or stretch when you move. Also, the tattoo will last longer if it is applied to a part of your body that doesn’t rub against straps or clothing. Once applied, the tattoos are waterproof, so they won’t come off in the shower, pool or with soap and water.
Are temporary tattoos safe for application on my skin?
All of the temporary tattoos we manufacture are safe and non-toxic. See our product safety page for more information.
What sizes can temporary tattoos be made in?
Classic tattoos are available in sizes starting at 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches. Metallic, glitter and glow tattoos are available starting at 2 inches by 2 inches. The largest size we offer is 25 inches by 40 inches.
What is the difference between imprint size and trim size?
A 1/8" inch margin between the printed image and the edge of the paper, on all four sides, is required for all custom temporary tattoos. Therefore the custom temporary tattoo itself is 1/4” smaller than the paper size selected (example – a 2”x2” tattoo has a 1.75”x1.75” imprint area). This applies to any custom temporary tattoo size you order.
How many colors can be used?
All temporary tattoos are printed in full color, using CMYK 4-color process, so your design can have as many colors as you would like! Free, added-value white ink options are offered at no additional cost.
What are the custom temporary tattoo white effect options?
We offer three white ink options:
• No white ink: Your tattoo image will be printed as-is. Any white areas of the design will be clear when applied to the skin, and your skin color will show through.
• Spot white ink: Your tattoo image will be printed with white ink only on the white areas of the tattoo design. When the tattoo is applied to the skin, the white areas will be white.
• Flood white ink: The entire tattoo image is printed with white ink in the white areas, and also behind the color. When the tattoo is on paper, the image will appear milky. When the tattoo is applied to the skin, the colors will be vibrant and the white areas will be white.
(Please note that white inks may not be available on all specialty tattoo designs)
CUSTOM PRINTED TATTOO BACKING
Can I have my website or other information printed on the back of my custom temporary tattoos?
Yes! We will print your website (or QR code), social media accounts, promotion codes or any other information in black ink, free of charge! A color back is available for an additional charge. Keep in mind that our standard back is designed to meet Cosmetic Labeling Guidelines. If your project requires exporting product outside of the United States, or if your project requires specific compliance information on the back of the tattoo sheet, our Director of Compliance is available to discuss your project and make informed recommendations.
What artwork formats do you accept for custom temporary tattoos?
We can work with any type of digital file you have available. We prefer files to be high resolution, color-corrected CMYK. If the file is a .jpg, .tiff, or .psd, please be sure they are at least 300dpi at the size you want printed. Vector .eps, and .ai files should have the fonts outlined or sent in with the art. In general, .tiff files and images taken straight from a website are too poor in quality and resolution to make a nice temporary tattoo, but we will work with you to ensure you get the best quality printed tattoo possible.
Are there any charges for artwork touch-ups or set-up for custom temporary tattoos?
There are never any additional charges for touch-ups or set-up of your artwork.
How are my custom and in-stock temporary tattoos packaged?
Each custom temporary tattoo is individually cut to size and has a clear, protective cover. Custom temporary tattoos are bundled in quantities of 200 and bulk bagged. In-stock temporary tattoos are delivered in a protective package. See our custom packaging options page for more information.
Can I request samples before placing an order?
We'd be glad to send you a sample pack free of charge. This will help to give you a feel for the quality of our products and brainstorm about your custom project. Pre-production samples of our Classic Tattoos are available at $25 for 25 samples (please allow 5 days). To order pre-production samples or mock-ups of our activity products, please contact customer service.
What shipping methods are available?
Our preferred shipping method is Federal Express (FedEx); however, we will ship using various carriers with a provided account number from the customer. Orders are shipped every business day. Your order will ship on or before your scheduled shipping date.
How much is shipping and handling?
Shipping FedEx Ground for 1000 1.5" inch tattoos is about $15. Higher charges will occur for packages shipped outside of the U.S.A. You may supply us with your carrier account number to be billed directly.
What methods can I use to pay for the temporary tattoos?
You may use Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, PayPal, wire transfer, or company check.
Are international taxes and duties included in the price of my order?
All recipients of International shipments from California Tattoos are responsible for any taxes and import duties, where applicable, that may be charged in the country to which the order is shipped. As with any International shipment, your national customs authority may detain the merchandise and delay its arrival while assessing appropriate duty charges. These taxes and duties differ in each country. Please contact your customs authorities for more information.
